Gator Hall of Fame
About the Hall of Fame
We believe that our team is unique due to the number of people who have been involved for many years. Some of these individuals have given much to the Gator team, contributing greatly to its success and the individual successes of the team members. The Gator Hall of Fame was established in 2005 to honor these significant contributors.
Initial Inductees - JIM MONTGOMERY & Family
The 2005 inductees into the Gator Hall of Fame are three members of the Montgomery family. Jim, Sue and Jeff were recognized at the 2005 Gator Banquet. Jim Montgomery coached the team for ten years, from 1989 through 1998. (See "Gators Finish on Tom on the Home Page.) In that capacity, he taught many of the current "Big Gators" to swim, helped to perfect their strokes, and guide them along the road of (good) sportsmanship. Jim was the mentor for most of the current staff of Gator coaches. Jeff began swimming for the team at the ripe old age of 4 and swam through his last year of eligibility at18 years old. After coaching, Jim and Sue continued supporting the team through volunteer activities. The line of timers just won't be the same without Jim Montgomery down there shouting his encouragement to the kids, inquiring about their times and giving them the much appreciated 'pats on the back'. Thank you Jim!
